Lessons

So, its been about 7 months now of what I would call the wildest ride of my life. First, trying to sell paintings, and then being inspired to join the NFT space - which has taken on a life of its own. In that time, I have had a few big lessons, some of which I am sure I could have googled.

  1. Consistency is key. This one is interesting because although I am consistent, it is spread among a few platforms - first IG, then blogging, then Twitter. It all compounds, but dedicating yourself to one specific venue has its perks.

  2. Social media - although important - requires a bit of ego removal. It is easy to get trapped in the followers/likes/engagement trap where nothing feels good enough. Even if everything is trending upward - patience and long term time horizon are pretty crucial here.

  3. There are a lot of shiny objects - try not to get distracted. In the last 6 months I went from selling paintings, to making 3D art, to making a PFP collection to starting an on chain project. Selling paintings was going fine, 3D art was going fine, it was all going fine. Spreading yourself too thin is what wrecks you in the end.

  4. Deliver something. Its easy to work on stuff into eternity, maybe because you are scared to ship, but its important to ship. Really, if you aren’t shipping, you aren’t doing anything.
